When using computers and devices to create illustrations and designs, there is a learning curve in becoming famliar with the tools of the trade. Adobe Illustrator is the dominant digital illustration tool in the industry of creativity. With this tool, you can create anything using lines, shapes, patterns, colors, text...anything!

1. Create a new folder in your Communications 1/Multimedia folder and title it "Adobe Illustrator - Getting Started"
   
   The contents of your Multimedia Folder should appear like this:
   
   
   
   
2. Download these next few files into your "Adobe Illustrator - Getting Started" folder by clicking your right mouse button and then selecting: save target as (Internet Explorer) or save link as (Google Chrome/Microsoft Edge).

     • The Pencil Tool
     • The Brush Tool

     • Color Fill (part 2)

3. Open the Adobe Illustrator application (located in your start menu - Adobe Illustrator CS6 or Adobe Illustrator CC). You will use Adobe Illustrator to open each of the .PDF documents (below) and perform the actions required on each document.
   
   Down in your taskbar, you will notice the Adobe Illustrator icon displayed. Right click on this icon and select "Pin to Taskbar." This will permanently place a shortcut to Adobe Illustrator on your Taskbar so you dont' have to keep searching for it. 
   
   
4. In Adobe Illustrator, click on Window on the Menu Bar and select Toolbars and then Advanced (This will provide you with the more extensive toolbar).
5. Click on Window on the Menu Bar and select Control (This will bring up the "Control" bar for convenient editing of type and other tools).
6. When you are done, be sure to click on Save
