Due Date: September 12
Color is part of our everyday life. The understanding of how colors work and play off each other could take a lifetime to master. It is not enough to simply look around and spot an image, grab a photo and go. It is all about closely observing how colors work together, whether they work as a family or in contrast and conflict with each other. An artist or photographer can spend years studying color theory which can help to form their style and approach to creating an image that leaves a great (or, not so great) impression on others.

This project will be graded by two different qualifications: Subject of Color/Depth of Field and Exposure Balance
It is your job to shoot 18 new and different images that focus on the interraction of color, colored patterns, and how colors interact with each other. To do this, shoot three images in the six sets listed below. ABSOLUTELY NO IMAGES ARE TO BE TAKEN INSIDE MY CLASSROOM. GET OUT THERE AND TAKE SOME REAL PHOTOGRAPHS.
Color Sets/Depth of Field: (40%)
- 3 (different) images that are focused on orange - Depth of Field: Near (Outside)
- 3 (different) images that are focused on blue - Depth of Field: Far (Inside)
- 3 (different) images that are focused on red - Depth of Field Middle (Inside)
- 3 (different) images that are focused on green - Depth of Field Far (Outside)
- 3 (different) images that are focused on yellow - Depth of Field Near (Inside)
- 3 (different) images that are focused on purple - Depth Field Middle (Outside)
Exposure Balance (40%)
Your images will be assessed/graded according to how well balanced the images are. Adjust the following for appropriate images
- Aperture
- Shutter Speed
- ISO
- White Balance: Your white balance needs to be appropriate for the setting. If you take images outside, then the WB needs to be set to Daylight/Direct Sunlight, Shade, or Cloudy . If you are taking photos inside, then you need to select Flourescent or Icandescent.
Subjective Grading (20%)
Basically,...how do I feel about the photographs/approach/work ethic involved in capturing the image
Your images must be saved in your student folder in a subfolder titled A World of Color (Be sure to open Adobe Bridge and make sure these files and folders are showing up properly)
Rename your images to reflect their colors. So, an image that is in the Red category will be titled "Red 1 - Middle - Inside," "Red 2 - Middle Inside," "Red 3 - Middle - Inside," etc. Do the same for all images so that their file name indicates their color category (Red, Green, Blue, Yellow, Orange, Purple), their Depth of Field (Near, Middle, Far), and their Location (Inside/Outside).
